Frank I read this in USA Today, yesterday (perhaps a fitting source). I am not sure what they have (perhaps the 500 Kwatt laser Boeing developed for the defense dept... pushing the limits of fiber exhaust), at what frequencies their laser operates or their cost advantage. I am intrigued by some of the recent advances in the sold state optics area. Can the System-on-a-chip mind set migrate to the optics area? I seems likely at some point but not soon. Perhaps others will have thoughts on the announcement and the more generel themes implied by these types of companies. Steve
