Yes, there is that worry. However with fundamentals in the foundry industry like it is, the problem with UMC will be over expansion, over capacity and fierce competition with TSM, which is in better financial condition than UMC. the TSM thread guys don't see that happening for at least 2 years.

ADRs still should sell at a premium in US market. If ALSC and SIII change their UMC shares to ADR shares (I believe they have to exchange them before the ADRs go public), it will completely liquify SIII.

But that's still a "value" story. Need increased sales and revenue from the "growth" story.
