I have not reached the conclusion about W-CDMA beating cdma2000 to the punch. Several leading mobile operators have. The people whose job it is to actually review new standards are making this call. For crying out loud - didn't you read DDI's own press release about the cdma2000 schedule? I'm trying to understand the signals that mobile operators are sending about their future plans - there are a whole lot of people who are doing their damnedest to ignore those signals completely. The whole discussion about HDR is absurd as long as a critical mass of important mobile operators doesn't materialize. It's not happening. After Hutchison, Vodafone, etc. spend literally tens of billions of dollars on GPRS and W-CDMA - are they really going to spend another bundle on another mobile internet technology with very shaky vendor support? You probably know very well that most vendors don't discuss the products that are in testing. You can't find corporate press releases about W-CDMA chipsets - that much is obvious. If you want to conclude from this that there are no W-CDMA chipsets in existence, that's within your Second Amendment rights. Tero
