"Your broker will likely enable you to sell COMSv on 7/11"

In one respect I don't quite get it, even after reading all available FAQs. (I'm sorry, I only had seven years of post-grad education.)

If one is a holder of COMS (regular) on June 11 in a brokerage account, for example, how does one's broker sell the COMSv? Does he somehow 'split' one's COMS (regular) into two -- then sell the "COMSv" and keep the "PALMv"? Or are you suggesting in effect one should sell COMSv short while continuing to hold the COMS (regular)?

Gad, this one is going to be a field day for abitrageurs, eh?
