Any thoughts why the DDI deal is being treated as a non-event?

I think it's a credit to the success of the current FUD campaign.

I mean, at the turn of the year didn't we all feel that the Qualcomm story was finally understood by the market? But now, according to the prevailing view, the Q! will be lucky to salvage some tiny piece of the wireless market with their cute, but hopelessly behind, proprietary little niche product, CDMA 2000. For Christ's sake!!

* This is a big psychological positive for Qualcomm as the financial impact
is neutral whether operators choose CDMA2000 or W-CDMA.

Even this statement is a subtle reminder of the success that the W-CDMA camp has had spreading doubt about Qualcomm. Notice how a Qualcomm stalwart's report of DDI's decision is described as a mere "psychological" positive. Even leaving aside the chip question, has Alex Cena forgotten about the effect of time on the "financial impact" of money flows? There should be a real, positive financial affect from this strategic victory.

I wonder whether his thinking has been affected by the current, overwhelming FUD campaign orchestrated by the marketers at Nokia, et al. Sadly, I believe the market's has.
