Value Stock Pick of the Week Vari-L (VARL -- $15) -- This Denver-based maker of signal processing components for wireless handsets is in the midst of its best sales surge of this economic expansion. Vari-L peaked briefly in January at $39 and has tumbled about 60% since in sympathy with other Nasdaq technology issues. Analysts were a little miffed that the company's recent per-share earnings did not keep pace with sales growth--the result of options being exercised. But the effects of top-line growth will quickly offset the near-term dilution.
