BIOS doesn't care what O/S you have, as it looks at the floppy before it starts booting the O/S from the HDD.

Your win98 startup floppy should be fine for updating the BIOS.

One problem might be if you put the BIOS installer program and BIOS file on your HDD -- if your HDD is formatted in NTFS you probably won't be able to access it from the win98 floppy. In which case you could put the BIOS files on the win98 floppy or on a separate floppy (or on a FAT 32 or FAT partition on your HDD).
