Thanks. A little before my time, so I don't know anyting about that deal.

What impressed me most about this deal is that kinase inhibition is an area that Novartis is heavily involved in and, one could argue, has been very successful (a cool v-Abl inhibitor, for example). IMO, this signals that Novartis recognizes this area is extremely fertile ground that they cannot possibly cover by themselves (everybody --including Vertex -- just rips off their molecules anyway) and needed help. There were other, cheaper, choices.
