The MAT tender offer was allegedly a fraud. Big and little investors appear to have been ripped off, as Carnegie Investment Management took the tendered shares and never paid for them. They used the MAT stock as a huge margin collateral, and traded in tech stocks, apparently not very adeptly. They have now declared bankruptcy. An interesting article by Dan Colarusso appears in TheStreet.com, using the link below.
