Dave B. Correction.
In a prior post I incorrectly stated 48% of Dell's revenue was from W/S's and Notebooks.
In fact, that 48% also included Servers and storage.
From the Dell report I'll make a WAG on the Desk Top segment.

Servers/WS/Storage/Notebook $3494
Services $500
Desk Tops $3286
Total revenues $7280

If I guess an average ASP of $2000 for desk top's, I come up with ~1.7 million units.

Unfortunately, Dell has a weird calendar. But for calendar Q1, IDC has Dell shipping 3.2 million servers/WS/notebooks and desk tops. (I'm pretty sure that IDC includes all in their numbers. DQ doesn't include servers in their's). So it look's like a little over half the units are desk top's. That seem's surprising low to me, but Dell states in their report that 52% of system revenue is from desktops, so it may be close. (I'm guessing about $6.3B total system revenues, ~$1B for storage and services. Desktop's as a percent of revenue have been steadily declining. Also 30% of system revenue from notebooks). It would be hard for me to justify more than 2 million units of desktops from Dell's numbers.

It does reenforce Dells' claim that system revenues are coming from higher margin segments. (Servers, W/S's and notebooks).

I may have missed something obvious, so fire away. <g>
