Ron, >>but I seem to have read somewhere that the Mexican debt was paid back already as a result of their guaranteeing their debt against their petroleum exports.

I read somewhere that they made a progress payment last week.

Yes, there are a lot of good ideas for alternative fuels, but the oil powers: OPEC, our oil companies and others will fight tooth and nail to keep oil as a main source of energy. Survival is a strong emotion.

I worked on the project "Blue Print Independence" during the last oil crises and we proved there was no cheaper alternative at that time. I am sure technology has come up with new ideas since then, but I do not know if any of any of these will be cheaper at the bottom line. One of the problems is building the infrastructure to enable these new technologies, even if the engineers could bring them to market.

IMO, we will need a shock for our political system to pursue these new technologies.

Have a good day,

Joan
