Curtis- My GTE Worldwind cable modem reports 545Kbps download and only 152Kbps upload speeds at your posted url. Not very fast for a cable modem. And I too, like John reports, seem to be delayed by the GTE metro network on my way to the Internet backbone.

I know this because four weeks ago, while traveling on business, I was using a 56k dial-up with my laptop. And I'm afraid to say, I hardly noticed the difference in speeds. I was using AOLnet to log on at that time. Kind of sad commentary about cable modems.

It costs me about $40/month for Internet access. It also includes an ISP of whom I have no idea who it is. But only if I purchase the cable TV package from GTE Americast. Without the cable TV package, I believe the cable modem access would cost about $50/month. -MikeM(From Florida)
