John, I would correct one point in your outstanding treatise:

ICO appears likely to emerge from BK, and if present plans are executed will be a competitor to G* starting in late 2002--a competitor that plans to offer higher data rates than G* and phones that work indoors--so it's something to keep an eye on.

What's remarkable about it's planned ressurection is that Craig McCaw is willing to bet some 500M$ of money he controls that he can raise another 2B+ in the public markets in order to get this system deployed--a system that, IF it retires a tremendous number of regulatory, launch and financial risks--will go after the same market that most G*bashers deny exists.

This is pretty strong confirmation that CMcC believes the market exists and that G* will succeed (because if it fails even the great McC will have difficulties raising 2B$)
