JC,

Do you think that we are the only country with copyright laws? Even China has laws that make pirating software or other forms of copyrighted media illegal. The arm twisting that you claim occurs is simply an agreement that to engage in relatively free trade, both countrys' laws are enforced to some degree.

Remember that when the products of a company in one nation are appropriated in another nation without payment, trade imbalance between those nations is also affected. We enforce copyright laws in the US. We have for as long as I remember, whether the copyrighted material is from the US or another country. If we continue to enforce our own laws to the benefit of our trading partners, at the same time as our partners allow our products to be stolen, we bias trade to our detriment.

It surprises me that you seem to be arguing against the government enforcement of clear cut copyright law, and at the same time in favor of the yet to be settled direct attack on Microsoft's ability to control its own corporate organization. Are you sure that you are not more biased that those you accuse?

Mike
