I used a magnifying glass and the K7700 looks real and no signs of tampering.

That's good news, I'm glad you found you had the real thing.

Re: I taped it on the heatsink with some thermal compound under the thermistor. Gives me another bell or whistle to watch.

What temp range does your Athlon 700 MHz processor run?
