I think it was somewhere around cable degrading, (much as this thread has), when they let just everybody in the neighborhood get access. Seems that access speed deteriorates to the point where one would be better off doing research on the net or whatever with a 56k modem.

Not to mention I have seen a lot of security concerns raised in relation to cable.

Overall, it comes down to the point of which has better reliability. Cable run by the same cable companies that let the TV go dead weekly, especially in the summer every time it thunders twice? Or my always on, always accessible, hardly ever out phone line and dsl? DSL wins. If the phone companies get serious and get moving.
