The attitude about the .coms has certainly changed. Where it used to be so cool to think that the b-to-c .coms would do nothing but grow like crazy and then repay investors as they printed money, now the awareness has grown to just hoping they will become marginally profitable. This still may become a hot area to play when the back to school and Christmas season get near. Until then, I'll be playing around, long and short, with the semis, btbs, and some other sectors. We will probably get into a sideways churning market through the summer that looks a lot less exciting than many investors have recently grown accustomed. You can make good money during that period if you trade stocks with good support and resistance levels. Five percent over and over again is tedious but it is relatively safe.
