I guess the trend is to the warm side, at least a lot of people keep saying it is. The adamantine tone of these people is where the suspicion lies. They never allow for solar variability in their equations. Suppose things are heating up, why is that necessarily a problem? Wouldn't we have longer growing seasons? That would help feed the world. And my house in western Connecticut would become beachfront property.

You're right, it should have nothing to do with politics, but of course it really has everything to do with politics. The Kyoto accords read like a leftist manifesto.

The planet has been getting warmer since the time of Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates. Brackish water hasn't had a hard freeze in Holland since the turn of the century. Human activity is most likely not the cause of the warming trend.
