Sunny, I agree with Joe, that the most practical way to handle capacity needs on a trip is to carry additional flash cards. In my own situation, I use a 96mb flash card, which is large enough to deal with practically any situation, having a storage capacity of somewhere near 100 JPEG format shots. It would still hold some 40 - 50 highest resolution shots in TIFF format. As a practical matter, now that flash cards are getting cheaper, I would suggest keeping on hand an extra 64mb card, and, as Joe suggested, periodically deleting the shots you don't want to save. If you are reviewing your shots on the camera's LCD screen for any length of time, you're going to draw a lot of your battery current, so you should also have a set of rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries and take a charger along with you on a trip.
