There is a sequel to The Mote In God's Eye. It's called The Gripping Hand. (You probably already know this)

My favorite Niven/Pournelle was Lucifer's Hammer. What a ripping great yarn! A lot more realistic than that dumbass The Stand by Stephen King, which came out at the same time if I remember right.

I'll bet the reason Hollywood never made a movie out of it is because of the way it ends. Remember? The group of survivors succeeds in firing up a nuclear reactor, saving civilization. Who in Hollywood would dare have that as an ending?
