Manugistics and Cap Gemini Announce Cooperation to Provide New Solutions For Growing Trading Networks; Worldwide Joint Marketing Efforts Will Leverage Geographic and Industry Strengths

ROCKVILLE, Md. and PARIS, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU), a leading global provider of intelligent supply chain solutions for enterprises and evolving eBusiness trading networks, and the Cap Gemini Group, one of the leading global management consulting and IT services groups, today announced an agreement, in principle, to jointly market new eBusiness solutions for the world's expanding trading networks.

Building upon their respective geographic, industry and eBusiness strengths, the companies plan to focus on Europe, including Belgium, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, and North America before expanding worldwide. Initially they plan to target the consumer packaged goods and motor vehicles and parts industry segments.

"Cap Gemini is a leading provider of systems design, integration and outsourcing services needed to support best-in-breed eBusiness solutions," said Jeff Holmes, senior vice president of strategic solutions and alliances for Manugistics. "As more companies come to realize that eBusiness is the way business gets done, they will seek solutions and services that speed their entry into the extended Internet-enabled trading community."

Cap Gemini's eCommerce information technology (IT) expertise combined with Manugistics NetWORKS(TM) solutions is intended to enable customers to demonstrate profitable growth in a rapidly changing business climate.

Powered by Manugistics WebWORKS(TM) architecture, Manugistics NetWORKS solutions provide application portability and intelligence to help transform the traditional supply chain into a trading community. With IT and consulting support from Cap Gemini, customers of these solutions and their trading partners can expect to gain the technology to share, view and execute decisions based on real-time information.

"To survive in today's competitive international marketplace, companies need the very best eBusiness solutions supported by comprehensive IT services," said Eric Lutaud, general manager at Cap Gemini. "Manugistics' industry-leading solutions have helped generate profitable growth for top Fortune 500 clients for more than 20 years. Many of our customers, and prospects, would benefit from such solutions, which could help them to move outside the confines of their four walls into burgeoning Internet-based trading communities, where greater efficiencies, returns on investment, and cost savings are possible."

Cap Gemini holds industry-specific client workshops at business solution centers around the world. To generate client interest, Manugistics and Cap Gemini intend to produce new workshops that showcase their combined solutions. Cap Gemini currently showcases a Manugistics-produced workshop for the automotive industry in the Paris solution center.

Cap Gemini intends to provide facilities management services to support implementation of Manugistics solutions by Exel plc, one of the world's leading providers of supply chain design and management services. The initiative falls under an agreed framework for partnership between Cap Gemini and Exel covering a broad range of technology services in support of Exel's global e-enablement capability. The Manugistics implementation would be part of Exel's continued drive to roll out e-enabled transportation systems across Europe.

Commenting on his company's agreement with Cap Gemini, Steve Whyman, vice president client management, Exel said, "This represents a further step in the continued development of our technology capabilities. We are committed to work with world class partners in pursuit of tailored, integrated solutions for our customers. The pace of change in technology is ever increasing, and our partners are vital in keeping us at the forefront of supply chain capability."
