heinz, i'm curious as to what you think about the freeport mcmoran preferred issues. i've been eyeing them up lately as underperformers, and the preferred issues have nice divs. some are gold denominated and all are callable as far as i can tell at 25 per. is the political baggage too much of a concern in your opinion? i tend to think that the indonesian govt. will be too reluctant to part with the foreign exchange to really make too much trouble for the likes of freeport and newmont. i had a mind to go long for a few easy clownbux today, but after getting stuck in the mud for a couple of days out in the rainy season bogs, i decided i didn't have the energy. i'm also looking to go short on jpm here fairly soon. maybe at the open tomorrow, or wait and see what kind of fund manager inanities develop before i pull the trigger. any thoughts on that one? looks like luc's energy shorts went on a tad too early. hopefully they came off quick before he got scorched -g-
