There are a lot of false stories that get perpetuated like that. My favorite is the origin of term "bug" which had to do with an actual bug in a switch of some early 60's model computer -- can't recall which. Well, low and behold, here I was watching some Time and Again or other historical show about the early years of live television. The host on what was one of the first television programs in the very early 50's or late 40's said "We still have to work the bugs out of the system!" I wish I could recall the program since it would put to rest the origin of that term as pre-dating any computer. I say that because having a "bug" was probably in use for any number of mechanical contraptions like watches.

BTW, another prediction: THE WEB WILL RUN ON JSP IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS.
