He was charged with nine counts of mail fraud and aiding and abetting for collecting disability that he was not entitled to collect. In otherwords, he was guilty of a scam.

He plead guilty to one count of mail fraud rather than risk a trial on nine counts. It is possible that the sentencing could have been consecutive rather than concurrent -meaning he would have had to serve the sentences one after the other. Someone with knowledge in that area would have to tell you that.

He could have easily gotten a suspended sentence/probation for this one count. I guess the judge didn't see it that way. Of course, I am sure there were reports/testimony/ etc that countered all of Tony's side to the argument about what a benefit he is to society.

When he gets out of jail he will be an ex-convict whose rights will be diminished because he was convicted of a felony.

By the way, he doesn't have his passport. They took that away from him last year.

He did the crime..now he does the time.
