Joel: If I may, allow me to recomend "The Jewish Way in Death and Mourning" by Maurice Lamm. Many times whenever I made a shiva call to someone's home, I always saw tha book and had a "morbid" curiosity about it, but did not want to pick it up and read it thinking/hoping that I wouldn't have to have use for it for many many years to come. When my father passed away back in 1993 and I was suddenly thrust into the whole shiva process I found that this book/guide (very fast reading and enlightening to all faiths, and belief systems, I may add) was quite informative and comforting.
