Chaz, I'd say, given my recent experience and given WSJ's efforts in "Jacobs' Patter", anything by Wall Street Journal or WSJ should be considered uninformed or wrong at best and malevolent at worst.

Sure, use it as a guide to where to look, but if they say Unicom is dumping CDMA, investors should NOT assume that to be true or even smoke indicating a possible fire. Investors should look for more reliable sources than WSJ.

Yes, we'll soon find out if CDMA is being dumped by Unicom. I don't believe it. No more than we should have believed the idea that DDI would dump cdma2000.

DDI was simply trying to negotiate some better deal with Q! and maybe even more cunningly gettin NTT to commit to their silly W-CDMA effort. I suppose King NTT is now stuck with trying to make their DS/W-CDMA VapourWear work while DDI can blithely roll out their HDR and cdma2000 next year.

When NTT can't make DS-CDMA hum, they will have to belatedly scurry into the cdma2000 to prevent DDI scooping the pool. The CDMA WWeb tsunami is coming fast and it's coming soon. Still there are hopeless commentators [serious and important people] who think that $36bn for UK 3G spectrum is bad because there won't be money left to roll out the network. Well, Duh! What do they think Vodafone has spread sheets for and their shareholders would NOT be impressed if they spent all that and couldn't quickly get a suitable return. Nokia must be really worried!! EU is hand-wringing and whining...

PS: Having now caught up to the end of the stream, I see that has already been well covered with WSJ NOT being a well-respected publication.

<Has Maurice already started a China Unicom Memorial Day Massacre ? Jon. eom.>

How about the timing of the Q! vendor financing 3.45m warrants! Gee, that must have ruffled a few feathers, with WSJ letting rip just at the same time.
