Embedded software company Wind River [WIND] was also a popular choice for investors committed to the semiconductor space.

Hi Dennis,

How about putting WRS right below the networking firms mentioned, since we do power a lot of their boxes.

------------Here is a something a friend wrote a few months back.------
We are using the latest Tornado. And for IOS, a vast majority of Cisco's products use IOS. In fact only their latest acquisitions use other stuff. Cisco's strength is
keeping an integrated platform, that is a main reason they destroyed all the other networking competitors, uniformity. Cisco will have to struggle with making it all
uniform. But ask any ex-3COMer... Cisco beat their ass in networking by maintaing uniform OS across all platforms, and had all their software running before anyone else because of it, no matter the hardware platform.

TMS doesn't work out as that useful for us because we use our own H323 stack and have our own MIB interface. TMS=Tornado+Routing protocols+BSP+VLAN+MIB protocols/interaces. It will certainly ease development for those building routers and can't spend the money or time to do what Cisco has already done.

Cisco is like the Borg in Star Trek, the other companies will be assimilated one way or another. It is not in their best interest to allow fragmentation, for which
uniform development has been their biggest strength.

And if it does turn out to be that much of a problem, a well placed investment from Cisco(I'm not saying buying) in Windriver will change their mind about what additional support they will need in TMS. Money has a way of talking.
