The only think hanging in the balance is whether America will be a small minded and mean country or a broad minded an open country- broad mindedness can be dangerous, but small mindedness is deadly.

I am so happy to see the popular sentiment rising up against fanaticism. It is wonderful that MOST people can think of Juan as a human father and not as some cog in a Cuban commie machine- because he isn't a cog or a droid, or whatever- he is a human, in a country that is not free, but he has every right to live there with his children if he wants to. When his children are older they can come here if they want to- or stay in Cuba if they prefer it there.

I can understand why Cubans in this country see this as an emotional issue. They have to validate their own choices. By their hatred they reaffirm that the choice they made was right- they probably need that to stay sane. I am sure a lot of them miss things about Cuba. There are things there to miss. But I do not understand why anyone else would care so much, and be so emotional. I really do not. And thank goodness most people do not feel the way you and X2 do.
