Re: China/WTO, Unicom, Qualcomm, GSM....Oh what a tangled web we weave...

President needs Europe-China WTO agreement to push House to approve US-China trade pact;
President also needs to show that passing trade bill will help US companies;
QCOM has shown to have some influence with the current administration;
Europe wants special treatment for its interests, including its cell-phone companies (50+% ownership, definitely; kill the switch to CDMA? - likely);
China is looking to get the best deal(s) however it can.

Games are certainly being played - soon we will hear that some major, unnamed European companies are helping fund anti-China trade bill efforts in US <ggg>

My head hurts and I am going to bed. Wake me when all this is over.

P.S. Someone should tell Samsung about Unicom change in plans. According to their SSB presentation last week, they are counting heavily on CDMA in China, both for infrastructure and handsets. Or maybe they know something even the Unicom investment bankers don't know?
