The rhetoric on this board has been a little over the top as to what was wanted. It was implied (and stated) in several post that little Elian deserved to live in freedom HERE because his mother died to get him here- nuff said, no worries about hearings etc- kid stays. So bear in mind that THAT is the sort of discussion we seem to have been having for several days. The Freedom IS freedom discussion, ad infinitum.

It is my opinion that Juan's child should be treated like any other child from anywhere else in the world. If he came from China, or North Korea, we should treat this case them same. Would any of those children be granted an asylum hearing on a petition their living parent did not put forward?
