Com21 Joins NAMIC in Digital Bridge Alliance Project; Phase One Designed to Increase Computer Literacy,
Awareness among Underserved Populations

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2000--Com21, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMTO), a leading supplier of system solutions for the broadband access market, today
announced its sponsorship of the Digital Bridge Alliance Project, an initiative of the National Association of Minorities in Communications (NAMIC). Com21 joins
NAMIC in encouraging minority use of computers and the Internet. As a "Gold Level" sponsor, Com21 contributes financially to the Alliance, whose initial goals are

NAMIC and its sponsoring partners will hold a press conference tomorrow, May 9th, at 12:00 noon at the NCTA Cable 2000 show (Morial Convention Center press
room) to further discuss details of the plan.
