Fish Lips:

With QCOM 81.7% of my portfolio, you ask why I had so much faith in the company? 1. Management. Dr. Jacobs is very highly thought of and respected in his community. 2. I read that CDMA was "secure", and that the other technologies were not. 3. I read up on the work histories of Drs. Jacobs and Viterbi. 4. I thumbed through Dr. Viterbi's book on CDMA. 5. The company had profits.

I have no regrets at all owning <so much QCOM>. Sure, I wish I had sold (in early Jan 2000) those shares in my portfolio that were long so that I could buy back in now with some profit to show for it. I have no intentions of trading in and out.

Random thoughts on QCOM: I kind of wish I were in QCOM 100%. I'm totally comfortable with the company. The reasons have not changed, and the good news just keeps coming. <ggg>

I'm an incredibly fortunate, unsophisticated newbie. Don't follow me, I don't know where I'm going! <g>

I very much appreciate your reply. That was very remarkable because:

1. I doubt even the inimitable Merlin read Viterbi's book on CDMA; and we all know Tekboy didn't, because he unabashedly follows the other guys/gals.

2. You may call yourself an unsophisticated newbie, but you seem to me to be more like a role model.

3. Wow! you wish you were 100% Qcom.......wow! Restores my confidence in being 69% Q, myself.

4. I love your humility. Others who find themselves "ignored" could learn from you.

You should be posting more, and lurking less. If you do that kind of in-depth research, then there are likely other pearls of discovery you need to share with us. <g>

Best to you,
Apollo
