The Vancouver Sun reports in its Tuesday edition that the Canadian Venture
Exchange has put the brakes on one of its heavy volume traders, but it will
not say why. The Sun's David Baines writes that CDNX officials halted
trading in International Wayside Gold Mines last Thursday "pending
clarification of the company's affairs." CDNX spokesman Pam Whitworth
refused to elaborate, saying it is exchange policy not to provide details
on such trading halts. Mr. Baines points out that in fact, the exchange
routinely provides reasons for such halts. Wayside is one of the few
CDNX-listed exploration companies to attract investor attention over the
past year. Its share price peaked on April 7 at $2.45 based on favourable
assay results from the so-called Bonanza Ledge in Barkerville Mountain near
Wells, B.C. Wayside president Frank Callaghan has provided various reasons
for the trading halt. He said the exchange wanted an explanation for its
sharp price increase. The then said the CDNX wanted independent
verification for the company's resource calculation of one million ounces
on Cow Mountain.
