Mr. Bob Jaggard reports
Prudential Steel has added to its state-of-the-art facilities in Calgary, Alta.
Prudential is adding a premium threader facility to its Calgary operation to complement the company's wide variety of premium pipe products. The new threader will enable greater participation in the heavy oil sector for Prudential by offering a product that it does not currently participate in. Prudential will now be able to apply premium threads to its ERW tubular products making Prudential a one-stop shop for its customers requiring such threads. The company will also be able to apply these threads to other pipe products holding higher values than ERW.
These premium threads are for use in specific applications where high tension and compression exist such as thermal and long-reach horizontal conditions found in heavy oil, high-pressure gas and sour wells.
In keeping with its commitment to provide its customers products that will meet their demanding and ever-changing needs as well as focusing on convenience and service for its customers, Prudential is now associated with Hydril, Nippon and Hunting Interlock and will be offering its customers the following premium connections:
Hydril Series 500 wedge thread;
Hydril 563 thermal connection;
Nippon NSCC thermal casing connection;
Hunting Interlock Boss, SLHT; and
Hunting 40-40 tubing and casing connections. P> Prudential's new threader is now under construction with an anticipated first run date in June, 2000. It is estimated that the new threading facility will be running at capacity in the third quarter to serve a very strong forward order position.
Prudential remains focused on providing its customers with the best threaded connections suited to the application regardless of the pipe grade. The addition of the premium threader facility will allow the company to diversify its product range and serve a greater number of customers within the energy sector.
