With all the negative press and doom and gloom I thought I would contact some Canadian providers again like I did on 3/20. I am presently playing telephone tag with some of those I spoke with before. And BTW, I have almost been afraid to call thinking that I may be disappointed with what I might hear. That has not been the case! Here what I have so far. From Downeast Com 3/20/00 Starting to get interest amongst industry, shipping, recreational sailors and backpackers. Iridium put black cloud on market which will take time to overcome. Lots of skeptics amongst industrial prospects. Want the system but need to be convinced that it will work and remain viable. 5/16/00 Selling lots of phones ?all over it.? Interest and sales are very strong and building weekly. Just closed a deal this am. Still fighting the cloud of Iridium. Potential customers still skeptical but time seems to be the cure. Norsat 5/16/00 Spoke w/Lindsay: Getting lots of interest. Selling a lot in US. Target verticals. Really picking up. Only got into it a month ago. Initial reaction was lackadaisical. Now momentum is really building. Each week is better than the previous. Knows that Q1 #?s were disappointing but feels everyone will be very happy with Q2 and especially Q3. Very bullish and upbeat. Pacific Coastcom 5/16/00 ? spoke with a sales rep and left msg for Brian Hannigan. Sales rep said things are definitely picking up. Said Iridium had negative affect. They are now starting to sell phones. Thinks they will do well with G. I think it is safe to say that things are going well in Canada and even picking up. My contacts so far confirm BS's assertion that the trends are up and Q2 and Q3 #'s will prove it. No one I talked with was worried about G going out of business! G* USA has repeatedly things are going well here too with momentum building weekly. Customer Care told me the same thing last week. If that is truly the case, and at this point I have no reason to doubt that it isn't, I expect that G* USA to start announcing subscriber growth and provide endorsements from large vertical customers. I am looking forward to the day I get upstaged on the web site.
