APC's New Translucent Back-UPS(R) Pro 500 Unit Provides Macintosh Users with a USB Power Protection Solution with Power Management Support for Mac OS 9.0.4

WEST KINGSTON, R.I., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- American Power Conversion (APC) today announced the expansion of its family of desktop uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with the introduction of its translucent Back-UPS(R) Pro 500 universal serial bus-ready (USB) UPS, specifically designed for the Macintosh environment. This innovative unit, which comes with APC's award- winning power management software that supports Mac OS 9.0.4 software, provides users with an attractive power protection solution to increase the reliability of their Macintosh systems.

In addition to translucent hues, the unique sloped shape of the APC Back- UPS Pro 500 offers easy access to a seven-outlet design that can accommodate additional peripherals on the desktop. The unit offers unattended file-saving software and will automatically save files and shut down the Mac in the event of an extended power outage. The power management software communicates via a USB communications port, which significantly simplifies the installation of the UPS power management features essential for complete data protection.

Runtime for the new APC Back-UPS Pro 500 model ranges from 5 - 25 minutes for typical computer systems. This unit also comes with APC's lifetime equipment protection policy.
