FWIW, if the fallout from the move is bad it could be a learning experience...

QCOM management outraged a lot of its employees last spring when it not only fervently denied that it was going to sell the infrastructure division and then promptly sold it, but also by being less than generous regarding the options packages of employees connected with the division whose jobs were being transferred. Regardless of the specifics of the case, the whole thing left a bad taste in people's mouths, and so when the time came to sell the handset division they made sure to think through the comparable questions in advance and not create furious resentment...
