day, reaching a two-month high, on expectations that a cleaner-
burning fuel required this summer for densely populated regions of
the U.S. may be in short supply when demand peaks.

Environmental laws mandate that filling stations begin
selling the summer grade of gasoline by June 1. Yet it is
difficult and costly to make.
