as george said the GA on the director 64 port was said to be july and itasca, the 16 port asic , late this year. It sounded like brocade was working on a 2 gig asic but probably 8 port not 16, which would have significant cost implications. remember ancor owns its asic designs and brocade buys some of its from lsi.
Ken said that they worked three long weeks just before the announcement to make the deal and that in the due diligence that each got to see the others future. in fact the said that one reason ancor was comfortable with the deal as they thought that q's growth would be very comparable to ancor's going forward so that we were not giving up the top of a stock price range going forward. this ,in answer to my question of why sell just before your ramp up. He also made it clear that ancor thought more deals would be available to ancor if they were part of a bigger co. and that decisions on oems would be coming up in the near future. Partly , I suppose , to deal with brocade FUD.
