Also, as Dershowitz and tribe have said, the 11 Th circuit had refused to give the attorney general authority to compel Lazaro to give Elian to the cubans. The attorney general attacked Lazaro and siezed Elian.

Reno's seems to think that she can do anything except that which is prohibited.

WRONG!! She may only do that which is permitted,

No court order to turn Elian over, hence the analogy to the Gestapo- which was the law in nazi germany.

It is true that the ins an US gov't are not NAZI like in behavior if you define that type of behavior as only what which occured in Germany, but the priciple under which the US government operated in the Elian raid is that Lazaro has no right to freedom, only govt granted privledges. Hence, if Janet Reno gives an order, Lazaro must snap-to and obey.
