A T M I Creates Taiwan Unit, Appoints Manager; Ko-Ying Hu Country Manager for A T M I Taiwan

DANBURY, Conn. and HSIN-CHU, TAIWAN, R. O. C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2000--A T M I, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATMI), today announced a new subsidiary and local facility, A T M I Taiwan Co. Ltd, based near the Science Based Industrial Park in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.

Ko-Ying Hu joins A T M I as the Country Manager for A T M I Taiwan, in addition to his responsibilities as Director of Sales. In this position, Mr. Hu will manage A T M I's Taiwan operations to help rapidly expand its local infrastructure and customer base.

A T M I is offering complete product sales, service, and support to its Taiwanese customers through its local facility. Staffed with A T M I-trained Customer Support and Service Engineers, A T M I Taiwan will handle local product warranty and 24-hour technical support for A T M I's environmental and life-safety equipment, its sub-atmospheric gas storage and delivery systems, source chemical vapor deposition (CVD) materials, and high-purity packaging and delivery systems.

Ko-Ying Hu, A T M I Taiwan Country Manager, said, "Now A T M I's Taiwanese customers can be comforted knowing that 24-hour-a-day service and support is just down the road. Before joining A T M I Taiwan, Ko-Ying Hu was with Schlumberger, managing their Asia sales and support for inspection and measurement equipment. His extensive semiconductor industry experience ranges from sales to engineering, in equipment from ion implanters to photoresist coating systems. Mr. Hu helped Paracom, SubMicron, and Lam Research establish and manage their Asian operations. Ko-Ying Hu earned both a BSEE and an MBA in the United States.

A T M I provides specialty materials and related equipment and services to the worldwide semiconductor industry. Related equipment includes materials packaging systems, delivery systems, sensors, and a full line of environmental equipment. Services include materials management, equipment servicing, and thin film deposition.
