I too cannot understand raising rates as a way to "fight inflation"; raising rates exacerbates inflation. Borrowing money costs more, so business either lose profits or pass on the cost to customers or don't do improvements needed, etc and so on.
I wish we had a free market back. Let demand and supply take care of prices.
But that will never be again, at least not in our lifetime.
