Howard,

I think I have the same sort of problem as GeorgeD. As you may recall, I purchased a PIII 667 Windows 98-based system with 512Mb of RAM and 2 hard drives way back when.

I am running Norton SystemWorks and am regularly getting the Graphics Device Interface (GDI) indicator going down to the 15% level. Below 15%, I do notice that I start running out of memory because the icons on my screen go black and system performance deteriorates considerably.

Thought that the fix to this problem was to load up on more RAM (just doubled from 256 to 512Mb) but the system uses very little (less than 100Mb) at all times.

Any suggestions or do I have essentially the same problem as GeorgeD. with too many programs open?

Thanks in advance Howard.

Sue :)
