Well, I haven't described much of anything, in detail. Let's see: doing one's best to make sure that people will pay attention to potentially boring explanations is manipulative? If so, I plead guilty. Condescending? Well, I would say realistic, but I will not even defend myself on that score. Most people are very, very ignorant, which is why public opinion is so malleable, they don't know what to think, or whom to believe.
Did you ever see "Free to Choose", on PBS? That is my idea of a great didactic series, but it already presupposed a certain level of interest and knowledge, or one wouldn't have tuned in. Still, it was clear, well- paced, had good visuals, repeated points when necessary, and followed up each episode with a debate that drove home the issues...... |
