If you're referring to the Fed bailout of LTCM in '98, I believe the intervention at that point was indicated. The continued expansion of money supply into the second half of 1999 was not though, and clearly accelerated the real estate and equity market bubbles (I'm referring by non Fed funds rate interventions here, such as overnight repos and coupon passes). AG will be looked upon as the chief architect of the bubble and its aftermath by history, IMO.
