I was PM'd a lovely message from a lurker, and I'm hoping I'm not breaching confidence to post some of it here. It provides a nice segue (spelling? I've never been a great speller...odd for someone with an Oxford doctorate!) for a technical indicator I've been working on.

I like to check in on your thread from time to time ..
Using MA x-overs to time entry/exits on volatile stocks
is a nice discipline .. It doesn't matter a whole lot
what specific MAs you use or the time period as long as
you are consistent with whatever parameters "seem" best
to you .. I think your thread participants can serve as
a candidate stock screening mechanism as long as everyone
knows what to look for and is using the same set-ups ..
It would be nice to have a systematic way to screen for
volatile ( I assume you are defining volatility as
trading range expressed as a percent of prior close
or something similar ?? ) issues that have recent smooth
trends such as SAWS

See next post for my suggestion...
