The issue is: All the fast food stocks plunged when MCD announced that they would sell Big Macs for 55 cents. Investors assumed that MCD, as the 500 pound gorilla, would gobble up market share from the competition and regain their same store growth patterns. MCD had previously attempted to make inroads into the adult sandwich market with intros of Arch Delux which I call Arch McFlop. Both failed marketing attempts posed a potential threat to FM's recent same store sales growth. Thus, it's important to keep one eye on MCD's attempts to regain the high ground.
Your friends gave you good advice. You should buy them a Jumbo Jack as thanks for their wise recommendation. :-)
