Broadbase E-Marketing Adopted by Hewlett-Packard for Worldwide Deployment

Joint Implementation of E-Marketing Application Generates Successful Results, Leads to Expanded Usage Throughout Asia and Europe

May 18, 2000 07:45 AM Eastern Time
MENLO PARK, Calif., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadbase Software, Inc. BBSW , the leading provider of customer-focused analytic and marketing automation applications, and Hewlett-Packard Company HWP , today announced that Hewlett-Packard is expanding its use of Broadbase in an enterprise wide global deployment. Hewlett-Packard is using Broadbase in its Commercial Customer Organization to increase channel loyalty, build relationships directly with customers and to generate revenue. After working with Broadbase to implement its E-Marketing application in Asia for the past year and achieving strong results, H-P is rolling out Broadbase to several additional Asian countries as well as throughout Europe.
"Broadbase E-Marketing is central to improving and measuring our marketing efforts around the world," said David Welch, CCO eCRM Manager at Hewlett-Packard. "We conducted a detailed evaluation and found Broadbase to be the leading e-marketing automation solution. The key for H-P was the depth and breadth of its workflow driven closed loop e-marketing capability."

Broadbase has been in use by Hewlett-Packard in several countries including China, Singapore, Taiwan and Australia for nearly 12 months. It is used to plan, execute and measure multi-channel campaigns (including e-mail, Web, call center and direct mail) and to manage leadflow within their channels. H-P's goals have been to increase channel loyalty, build direct relationships with customers and to measure marketing effectiveness. In a recent campaign conducted with Broadbase, Hewlett-Packard received a 23% response rate leading to significant revenue. This response rate is in contrast to an industry average of 1% for similar campaigns. In light of successful campaigns in countries such as Singapore and Taiwan, H-P is rolling out Broadbase in several additional Asian countries and throughout H-P's European operations.

According to Mr. Welch, "We have benefited from our solid working relationship with Broadbase on this global deployment. In addition to having packaged applications that can be rapidly deployed in a highly repeatable fashion, Broadbase has provided marketing domain and technology expertise to ensure that we can set up and run quickly."

"Broadbase has become the de facto standard in helping Fortune 1000 companies like Hewlett-Packard improve their business-to-business e-commerce," said Chuck Bay, CEO of Broadbase Software. "H-P's experience demonstrates that Broadbase's award-winning e-marketing application provides powerful capabilities that deliver rapid value."
