re: Microsoft Outlook ILOVEYOU Virus Attachements are "things" that are sent from the outside world and therefore have a high probability that they contain viruses. In Microsoft continual effort and zeal to meld program functionality with the operating system and thereby leverage the operating system they simply overlooked this point. They tried to give Outlook the same functionality as a file system an failed big time.
