Simba, I think the govt. plan is too easy on MSFT but that it will prevail. However, I also think that Gates and co. will take any settlement as license to return to business as usual, and land them in another jam.

MSFT has the cash to fake eps for several quarters, and I expect them to do just that, though I think they should have done the opposite. They missed their smartest move, which would have been to crash the stock before the announcement and to allow the room temp IQs in Congress to vent their displeasure with The Dept. of Justice trying to enforce the laws the same low IQs passed in the first place.

So, basically, I think that MSFT may be o.k. for a short term spec pop. But, longer term, they are and should be dead meat and I would expect them to underperform the Dow and the Nasdaq over the next 5-10 years.
